I received this forwarded email. I am a coffee lover and have always enjoyed a good cuppa at least once or twice a day, failing which I will feel that something is amissed. I myself had read and had been warned by relatives & friends alike with regards to the ill-effects of coffee and how they tried to encourage me to try and overcome my need of a daily fix, coffee, of course...I am deeply heartened when I read this email. I am not sure how genuine it is but for the time being I can enjoy my daily passion of coffee drinking without having to feel guilty until otherwise proven.....

Your morning beverage could be giving you more than just that get-up-and-go feeling. Drinking caffeinated coffee can reduce your risk of certain diseases. While more research is still needed, results show the beloved beverage could be the next superfood. Drinking one to three cups a day cuts your risk of diabetes by single digits. But if you up it to six cups a day, men slash their risk of diabetes by 54% and women 30% over people who don’t drink coffee. Two cups a day can cut your risk of colon cancer by 25% and liver cirrhosis by 80%. Those that drink coffee on a regular basis are 80% less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease; and the more coffee you drink, the less risk. Dr. Michael Roizen says there’s even some evidence that shows coffee can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease, liver cancer and ovarian cancer. It can even help manage asthma, stop headache, boost mood and even prevent cavities. It’s a mix of all of coffee’s components that make it beneficial to health. The beverage is packed with caffeine, potent polyphenols and properties that may be undiscovered. Of course, coffee isn’t for everyone. Dr. Roizen says some people can’t drink coffee because of the side effects associated with it—headache, abnormal heart rhythms, gastric upset and anxiety. But with all its health benefits, that morning stop at the coffee shop could be worth it.

The above write-ups are the exact opposite of what I have been reading all this while. My first thoughts are "Oh really?? That's cool...misgivings aside...at least..if it's true then I am justified defending my strong liking for coffee...cannot do without at least one cuppa every morning..Well...I will leave it to the experts to follow-up on the research and keep us posted....in the meantime....coffee anyone???????
